Today was another travel day with an early get-up at 5 a.m. We took the hotel shuttle to the airport where we got breakfast shortly before boarding. The plane took off on time at 8 a.m. During the 4.5-hour flight, our 7th graders worked on their math homework, sleepy teens took a good nap, books were read and movies were watched. After everyone was done with their cups from the complimentary snack and drink, the cup stacking game happened. There was minor turbulence but overall the flight was good as observed from the back of the plane. We even arrived 15 minutes early.
The carry-on space was full so some of our team had to check bags; because we boarded the plane last. We were glad the robots were with our first couple of kids, making it into the cabin with us. To get our baggage we had to take a shuttle from our gate to another building to collect them. Then we rode another shuttle to the rental car company to pick up a hybrid minivan. There were six of us that went in the minivan and the rest took an Uber.
Off we went to the hotel. What should have been a 35-minute drive took over an hour due to high traffic. We commented on it being like Tacoma at rush hour. Dinner was in the common room in the lobby (pizza was ordered in) and games were played. We were looking forward to pool time after a long day, but we observed as we drove in that the outdoor pool was EMPTY!
